Dear Downtown Photography Contest + Bright Nights photo contest TONIGHT

Dear Downtown Photography Contest
Begins Thursday, April 5, 2012 with annual Bright Nights photo contest

The Downtown Improvement District is collaborating with ARCH to host a new contest for local photographers to capture the beauty of downtown Fort Wayne while interacting with the heritage of our community!

Dear Downtown is a unique way of seeing our city and expressing our connection to it. Local photographers are asked to recreate historic images of downtown by splicing or juxtaposing them with physical locations of today. For examples of this effect, visit www.dearphotograph.com.

The contest begins April 5, 2012, which is opening night for the TinCaps at Parkview Field. We are also asking all of Fort Wayne and Allen County's creative talents to join us over the next six weeks to photograph all of downtown's rich cultural and architectural beauty, night life, and atmosphere through our history and memories, be it a wedding at the Embassy, Botanical, or Courthouse, childhood photos of you and your friends at Coney Island, or images of your Great Grandpa's law office.

As an incentive, the best images will be announced and curated into an exhibition and will include three cash prizes!

The winning photographs will be chosen by the Downtown Improvement District (DID) and ARCH staff. Judging will take place after the entry deadline, and award winning photographers will be notified by Monday, May 21st, 2012.

For more information, contact the DID at (260) 420-3266 or dswartz[at]downtownfortwayne.com or jenna[at]downtownfortwayne.com
