Christine Calhoun & Augusta Pryor: The Dormant Apothecary
Opening: Saturday, March 3rd from 6:00-9:00pm
March 3-24, 2012
This exhibition will feature a variety of drawing and painting mediums. A mix of activist art and the surreal.
Christine Calhoun works in brightly colored oil pastels, colored pencils and paints: mixing in dark and gloomy colors to create an often unexpected and fascinating wonderland. The sky in her subjects worlds is never flat, it is multifaceted like a gem stone, with almost as many colors. Augusta Pryor at first glance leans towards the dark, but it is really truth and introspection. Her work forces you to reexamine yourself. The glass in front of her harsh introspective stare seems to magnify the power like a microscope.
Both are recent graduates from the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
