Artlink will present its first-ever Artlink Visual Art Awards (AVA) on Thursday, February 17 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Hall Community Arts Center (home of Artlink and the Fort Wayne Cinema Center), 437 E. Berry St., Fort Wayne. One artist from each of 11 genres will receive an award created by ceramist George Morrison and a $100 gift certificate donated by United Art and Education. The names of the winners will be kept secret until they are announced that evening. The event will feature hors d’oeuvres from Club Soda, a cash bar, and music by the Possum Trot Orchestra. The nominations were compiled into a ballot listing four artists in each of 11 art genres: Ceramics, Drawing, Graphic Art, Jewelry/Metal, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture, Surface Design/Fabric, Outstanding University Art Student and Outstanding Visual Arts Educator.

The AVA ballot is posted on Artlink’s website (www.artlinkfw.com) so the public can vote for their favorite artists through February 9. A list of the coffee houses with ballots and ballot boxes are available on the Artlink web site as well as images of the nominated artists’ work.
