At the Orchard in January

Braxton Eikenberry and Janie Caldwell at Orchard Gallery
January 4-31, 2011

Stained Glass by Braxton Eikenberry

Showing for the first time at The Orchard Gallery, Braxton Eikenberry brings us his stained glass panels from his Akron, Indiana studio. Braxton often integrates found objects into his glass panels because "they have a special history & vibe". Visitors may recognize Braxton's work from Covington Art Fair, where he is a regualr exhibitor.

Felted Purses, Hats & More by Janie Caldwell

Janie's love of fabric & color comes through in her newest felted items. She combines felted wool from previously used sweaters, along with discontinued designer fabrics to make hats, purses, tea cozies & most recently: stylish fingerless gloves. A portion of Janie's profits benefits various local charities. Technical Info: Janie washes the thrift store wool sweaters at very high temperatures, which changes the fabric into the form she will use them in. This process is called "felting".

Gallery Hours:
Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat: 10-5

Want to know more about all those talented artists at Artworks Holiday Gallery? This Sunday, December 19th at 2pm you can get the scoop and learn about the unique styles of individual artists at the Guided Gallery Tour. In addition, some of the artists will be on hand for you to meet, talk with, and ask questions.

Once you understand the personal journey required to create each piece of art, knowing the history and dedication of the artists, you’ll feel a connection. You’ll want to add to your collection, or perhaps select a special piece as a gift for a special person. Art is an expression of love, hope, joy…everything the holiday season stands for. But perhaps even more, art is a vehicle. It can take you places in your mind and spirit with just a mere glance. You can be part of the journey.

IAC Individual Artist Program Grants

Artists are encouraged to submit applications for the IAC's Individual Artist Program. Artists in selected disciplines have until February 14, 2011 to submit their application. Eligible projects will only be considered in the areas of dance, theater, literature, music, and folk arts related to the traditional disciplines listed here. This marks the second year the IAC has staggered eligible disciplines in the grant program. Artists are encouraged to carefully read the program guidelines on the IAC website, and note there are significant changes for this grant period. Applicants may apply for up to $2,000 from the IAP grant, which requires no matching funds. The grants are intended to assist artists with specific project-related costs that will help them further their career and provide significant public benefit through the completed work. A series of application workshops will be scheduled. A listing of dates, times and locations can be found here. Artists are encouraged to check this page periodically as new workshop dates may be added. For more information, please contact Susan Britsch at 317-232-1281, or email to sbritsch@iac.in.gov.
