The P.E.D.I.C.U.R.E. Art project began as an economic corridor development initiative presented to a previous local government organization, under the name of P.E.D.I.C.U.R.E. The project shifted from local small business development to artists/musicians and took root through interconnections made through the Member Artist Exhibition at The Fort Wayne Museum of Art, out of which grew, P.H.I. Art – a local collaborative artist group who are the core planners of this project.
The concept of “P.E.D.I.C.U.R.E. Art” is a “farmer’s market” style art and music showcase to be held in Historic West Central Neighborhood, summertime monthly on the main entry corridor to the West of the City of Fort Wayne on the 2nd Saturdays. Yards are to be used to accommodate artist displays and sidewalks are to be used to accommodate attendees.
As awareness has grown, so has participation increased among the Corridor residents, Corridor businesses, Corridor non for profit organizations and with the artistic and musical community in and around Fort Wayne, Indiana.
A Handicap accessible restroom will be available at The Thirteen Step House located at 1317 block of West Washington Blvd. Other area restrooms will be at Sweeney Park and at the Thirteen Step House cottage at 1016 Nelson which will also be host to artists needing interior space for their displays. The music performers will also perform at the cottage at 1016 block of Nelson or on a neighbor’s front porch if there is sufficient space and available electricity.
By the timing of our event on the second Saturdays of June, July and August, annually, to match the West Central Neighborhood Association Home/Garden Tour and Art Festival, our project will be the perfect lead- in to the WCNA annual events that are held the second Saturday in September.
The idea is to keep the art show looking like an art show – not like a community garage sale. To help accomplish this, art will be hung on cast iron and picket fences, “flower” carts as public art will be placed in the park strip, easels at each participating yard as to what vendors and items are available (if vendors are in the back yards), and easels with information will be at the end of each block.
Antiques – items a minimum of 50 years or older – may be offered, along with heirloom and organic plants and produce. Historic Preservation and alternative health and healing are also art forms. The historic homes will add much to the ambient feel of the events in the old neighborhood.
Tents and umbrellas in the lawns will be provided by the artists, to shelter the artists, art and musicians. The tents/umbrellas will be in the participating yards along the corridor. Musicians will perform on the front lawns or porches, and our main advertising will be the 16,000 cars per day that go past our location. We will encourage local art galleries to participate and help us with a map design that can be posted at the central location on a bulletin board.
This local, outdoor event will provide very low cost booth/porch rental and little travel expense for local artists ( $25.00 per 10’ by 10’ per event) while making use of the advertising toward the traffic of the West entry corridor. This event will provide low cost booth space for many different types of artists, ranging from performance art and music, sculpture, jewelry, painting, stained glass, sonic art, kinetic art, healing art, to awareness about local resource not for profit groups such as The Thirteen Step House, Arts United, Save Maumee, The Brenda Hanchar Foundation, Heartland Communities, Inc., The Ringing of the Rivers Project, etc.
ALL participating musicians will be asked to tune to European Concert A = 444 hertz.
WE realize this may be difficult for some instruments, but the warm weather will help with flutes and clarinets. Please bring digital tuners. If the music is attuned to A = 444 hertz, the pressure wave that sound is, envelopes the attendees in the frequency range that speaks to hydrogen, stimulates endorphin production, and puts the attendee into Theta (research Healing Partnerships, The Ringing of the Rivers Project, Cambridge University, and medical research by Dr. Peter Guy Manners and other MDs).
With sonic and corresponding light attunement is how we will end each show – with kymotropic imagery that is attuned to A = 444 hertz, and is isomorphic (what you see, hear and feel are the same pressure wave). Healing Partnerships has agreed to provide a laser light show for each event as a gift to the project, so bring your blanket or lawn chairs to enjoy the last hour - at dark - in a relaxing outdoor summer environment.
Perhaps the best way to measure the success of the project is by the collaborations that are formed and the new art that is the result of individuals taking time to drink from the wellspring of art and then stepping forth, best foot forward, fresh from an artistic “P.E.D.I.C.U.R.E.”, ready to begin anew.
