IPFW Campus near the Venderly Bridge
The IPFW RiverFest on June 26, 2010, will be a perfect day for strolling along the east bank of the St. Joe River near the IPFW Venderly Bridge to see The Rivers and Bridges of Northeast Indiana Exhibition and shop at the Fine Arts and Crafts Sale, from 10 in the morning until 9 that evening. Acoustic musicians will perform from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and set the outdoor stage for enjoying the art creations and the natural beauty of the river environment.
The Rivers and Bridges of Northeast Indiana Exhibition showcases the best paintings, works on paper, mixed media work, and photography that represent our rivers and bridges. This juried art exhibition is presented by the IPFW College of Visual and Performing Arts, and will feature first, second, and third place winners along with other regional artists’ breathtaking renditions of our rivers and bridges.
The ArtFest Fine Arts and Crafts Sale will feature over 40 regional artisans offering unique and creative art and craft items. The pleasant walk along tree-lined path starts with original products for sale by IPFW student artists. Moving along, festival-goers will enjoy jewelry from beading to metalsmithing, unique wood vessels and bowls, pottery and leather goods, hand-sewn and crocheted hand bags, sandblasted yard art, framed photography, paintings, woven tapestries, and much more. For photos of jewelry created by Steven and Susan Shaikh of the Global Village, sandblasted garden art created by Lisa Scheurich of Terra Services, photography art by Mark Carboni of Carbophoto, hand-crafted bags created by Marni Harris of Marni Bug Creations, clay vessels created by Joseph Adams, and marbled paper created by Heidi Finley of Ya Gotta Have Art, go to http://bit.ly/24m40y.
The ArtFest musicians scheduled are Cathy Serrano, 10 a.m.; Hope Arthur, 11:15 a.m.; Afro Disiacs, 12:30 p.m.; Fair Fjola, 1:45 p.m.; and End Times Spasm Band, 3 p.m.
The IPFW RiverFest is presented by Steel Dynamics in partnership with Fort Wayne Friends of the Rivers. The entire community is invited to the IPFW campus for RiverFest 2010—a day of festivity and celebration for one of Fort Wayne’s most prominent natural resources, our rivers. Families can enjoy nature, history, sports, water activities, and art, while music enthusiasts can enjoy performances throughout the day and rock bands in the evening until midnight. This event will stimulate interest in preserving our city’s rivers and support the initiatives of the Fort Wayne Friends of the Rivers.
