Calling Artists: Arts United Taste of the Arts - August 29, 2009
The Taste of the Arts festival is designed to become an annual celebration of inspiration. Arts United's newest tradition begins August 29, 2009 from 11 am-4 pm. We have merged two festivals into one. The Taste of Fort Wayne and the Arts Unite festivals will become the Taste of the Arts. The overall event will offer a sampling of the diverse arts and cultural opportunities from the greater Fort Wayne area. A variety of mediums will be showcased.
The Arts United board of directors has resolved to embrace this event as an annual community project and fundraiser for emerging needs. The first event will raise money specifically for a new arts education grants program for schools.
In addition to food vendors, the festival will host stages for arts performances and free booths for arts organizations to distribute their fall season schedules. A marketplace will feature local art for sale. The Taste of the Arts committee would like to offer you the opportunity to participate in the premiere of Fort Wayne's newest family festival. Here are some details for selling your artwork:
- Set-up on festival day begins at 8am on the Arts United Center Plaza, 303 East Main Street
-Vendors are asked to provide their own tent (if you want one) and/or display tables
-As a fundraiser, we are asking artists to contribute a $50 participation fee
- Artists keep all their proceeds from their event sales
-Electricity is available
-The number of booths is limited, artist selection will be determined by an Arts United committee to ensure quality of fine artwork and diversity in mediums
Call Linda at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art 260.422.6467 or email linda@fwmoa.org if you are interested in participating.

Glass & Jewelry by Kathy Watson at Orchard Gallery in June

A variety of techniques utilizing glass will be displayed in June at The Orchard Gallery. Fused and slumped glass with bold colors and fun patterns. Kathy's jewelry will also be on display. Being an artist is a way of looking at the world and making pieces of that vision apparent to others. Glass is a beautiful medium for exploring light and color. I am happy to be able to share them with others."

Deadline June 10 for Motherlode Exhibit Entries
Motherlode Group has once again been invited to exhibit at the Allen County Public Library’s Jeffery Krull Art Gallery. For this event we wish to connect established adult female artists with young female artists ages 12-18. As the title of the exhibition Big Ideas in Small Packages suggests, the theme of the work will be very broad, however, the size of the work will be limited to 8”x8” (unframed). The final framed piece can be no larger than 15”x15”.
The Motherlode Group was developed to illustrate the strength of female artwork. As we have grown, the group has evolved into a connection between professional artists of all disciplines as well as to those artists in their early stages. The organization continues to establish a common ground where female artists can meet, inspire one another and grow from the experience.

Creative Fish Fourth Annual Art Festival
Downtown Syracuse, IN
September 19, 2009
Saturday 9am-5pm
Join us for the fourth annual Creative Fish Art Festival designed to promote local artisans, downtown businesses, and fund Wawasee High School art Student Scholarships. The Town of Syracuse works diligently with us to provide an amazing atmosphere for this fabulous street Festival.
Main Street (downtown Syracuse) will be blocked off on either side of US 13 (Huntington Street) to allow artist vendors to line the street on both sides with booths. A Bandstand will be located on the street featuring outstanding musicians throughout the day. We will also have our famous raffle with prizes donated by our generous local businesses to aid the scholarship fund. Local restaurants will provide food and beverages for sale.
Our Festival has blossomed since it's inception in 2006. Last year we had over 50 artist vendors participate. We are looking forward to having you join us as either a artist vendor or attendee. If you are interested in being a artist vendor, contact the Creative Fish to have a form mailed out to you or emailed. A letter will also come with vendor application with more information. You can contact Kathleen Boyts or Tammy Kratzer at (574) 457-2789 for more information.

Huntington University's Digital media arts program to host Spring Showcase
May 13 at 7 pm
Merillat Centre for the Arts
Huntington University’s digital media arts program will host the Spring Showcase at 7 p.m. on May 13 in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts.
There is no admission charge, and the event is open to the public. Popcorn and pop will be available.
This event is a screening of student productions. All digital media arts students in animation and live action had the option to submit work to be featured. Students’ work has been divided up into categories including animation, live action and senior projects. Once those projects have been shown, awards will be announced and then followed by a special raw and unplugged segment.
Some of the media to be featured in the Spring Showcase was already on display at the Graduating Digital Media Arts Majors Exhibit in the Robert E. Wilson Gallery that ended May 5. However, the Spring Showcase will present the completed version of those works.
“The senior exhibit takes place in the gallery setting and does not lend itself well to screening the finished production,” explained Sandy Hartle, digital media arts assistant
