Art enthusiasts are invited on a daylong Artlink bus trip to the Art Institute of Chicago, Tuesday, April 29, to view the artwork of “Edward Hopper,” American realist and modernist. The exhibition surveys Hopper’s 70-year career and features 30 watercolors and 50 oils, concentrating on his most productive years from the mid 1920s to the mid 1950s. The companion exhibition, “Watercolors by Winslow Homer: The Color of Light,” provides a survey of the nation’s best known 20th century realist.

An American Heritage Trails luxury motor coach will depart at 7:30 a.m. from the Meijers parking lot on Lima Road. Coffee and a morning snack will be served. Tickets to both exhibits will be provided, and attendees are on their own for lunch in Chicago. The bus will depart from Chicago at 5:00 p.m. with a snack and beverage served before arrival in Fort Wayne at approximately 8:00 p.m. Cost for Artlink members is $65, non-members $68. Here’s a daylong bus trip tailored to the local artist and art enthusiast. On Saturday, April 12 Artlink will travel to Chicago’s River North Gallery District. This is a bare bones trip, so attendees are encouraged to bring their own snacks and drinks for the bus ride there and back. Artlink will supply a gallery map, but attendees are on their own for the day to peruse dozens of world-class art and antique galleries, visit area shops, and pick up lunch. Renowned art galleries in the district include Habatat, Jean Albano, Aldo Castillo, Perimeter and Maya Polsky.

The American Heritage Trails luxury motor coach will leave Fort Wayne at 7:00 a.m. from the Meijer’s parking lot on Lima Road. Arrival in River North Gallery District is 10:30 a.m. Departure time is 5:00 p.m. with arrival back in Fort Wayne at approximately 8:00 p.m. Cost for Artlink members is $35, non-members $40.
