Beat the daily grind with the Museum’s newest program—Learn a Bunch @ Lunch is a chance to see the Museum in a whole new way—and all on your lunch hour! These free, informal talks and tours will cover themes ranging from the current exhibitions, to the FWMoA permanent collection, to art in general. Each Thursday will be different—truly a taste for all palates!

Bring your lunch or order a box lunch and have it waiting on you! The Museum will provide beverages and light dessert; No reservations are required unless pre-ordering a box lunch.

Shaping Chicago’s Skyline: A Lecture by Thomas Kerwin, FAIA

Fort Wayne native Thomas Kerwin is a managing partner in the Chicago office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM). As a specialist in the management of large-scale urban projects, he is dedicated to successfully directing complex and innovative projects both in Chicago and globally.
Presently, Kerwin is overseeing SOM’s involvement with the Chicago 2016 Committee as coordinating architect for the city’s Olympic bid. He is also working on several major developments in China, including the Nanjing Greenland Financial Center in Nanjing, White Magnolia Plaza in Shanghai and the highly sustainable Pearl River Tower in Guangzhou.

Join us as Kerwin discusses SOM’s proposed Olympic Village and his other exciting global projects!

Focus Group, formed in 2006, the FWMoA is instituting some permanent programs and events for the Latino community of NE Indiana, including quarterly bilingual tours, Spanish language gallery handouts, and annual programming during Hispanic Heritage Month.

Weaving and Rug Making in the Oaxaca Valley

Eric Chavez, a fourth-generation weaver from a small community outside Oaxaca, Mexico will discuss Oaxacan and Zapotec culture as well as details of the natural dyeing and weaving processes, handed down through his family for generations.

We’ll also be treated to a brief demonstration, as well as have a chance to see (and maybe take home!) these truly beautiful creations. An opportunity not-to-be-missed!



These light but informative lectures, given by FWMoA Executive Director Charles Shepard, chronicle the evolution of American art by exploring the personal and professional lives of its makers.

Recognizing the need for artists to get out of the studio and convene with creative colleagues, ARTIST FORUM gives artists, of all media, an opportunity to discuss issues important to them with Charles Shepard, FWMoA Executive Director, as well as attend concise informational sessions. All area artists are welcome and encouraged to participate in the lively discussion.

A Room of One's Own—Affordable Studio Spaces: Selecting What Works for You

This program will focus on how artists may find appropriate work space to meet both their artistic needs and their budgets, and on how artists may maximize the value of their budgets and find value in their spaces. Different types of available and affordable spaces in Fort Wayne for artists, including live/work and studio space, will be covered as well as buying vs. renting. A Special Announcement will conclude the evening.

TOPIC: An American in Venice: America’s Entrants in the Venice Biennale

For over a century the Venice Biennale has been one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in the world. Since its founding in 1895, it has been in the avant-garde, championing new artistic trends in contemporary art. Tonight’s CRIT! will give our panelists a chance to rate if previous American representatives were up to the challenge—and don’t forget to bring your own opinion!
