Artlink Members Show Gives First-Ever People’s Choice Awards

For the first time ever, People’s Choice Awards were voted on at Artlink’s annual Members Show opening reception on Friday, July 13 at the gallery. Close to 450 attendees were asked to vote for their top 10 favorite pieces of artwork from among the record 170 pieces on display from the membership.

The results were tabulated and announced at an after-party at Park Place restaurant on Main Street. The award winners were: Lynn Berry, Jeff Crane, Joel Fremion, Gwen Gutwein, James Jur, Lloyd King, Ales Pancner, Ron Patton, Michael Poorman and Diane Schafer. The winners received gift certificates donated by local businesses and valued at up to $50.

“People love the Members Show because it gives all our members a chance to exhibit one piece of their own artwork,” said Artlink Executive Director Deb Washler of the non-juried show. “So as long as the piece is properly wired for hanging and it’s within the size limitation, we’ll display it.

“Of course, as our artist membership grows, our gallery walls seem to be getting smaller, but who’s complaining?” she joked.
