Seven Young Contemporaries at Artlink
The public is invited to attend Seven Young Contemporaries, an art exhibition featuring area artists. The exhibit opens on Friday, November 10, at Artlink, 437 E. Berry Street, Fort Wayne. The opening reception will be from 7 to 9:00 p.m. and the artists will be present.
The seven young talents in the exhibit are Nathan Abels, Jessica Baisden, David Carpenter, Alan Kitchen, Kat Rohrbacher, Nate Utesch and Dan Swartz. The artists are all painters with the exception of Jessica Baisden who is a photographer.
The exhibit was curated by Dan Swartz, a former student at the University of Saint Francis, before moving on to New York City. Swartz selected this group of seven 20-somethings for their diverse range of painting styles and subject matter. The show came to Artlink through a fateful cancellation by another gallery in town. Ready to be hung, Artlink’s Artist Panel couldn’t turn the young artists down.
“The gallery time was slotted for a short, two-week show for local artists anyway,” said Deb Washler, Artlink’s Executive Director, “…so, this is all lucky happenstance for the artists and for Artlink.” The exhibit will be up through Sunday, November 26. Also in the main gallery are holiday gift tables filled with artfully made and reasonably priced jewelry, pottery, wood-turned and glass objects d’art ideal for personal, home and office use.
Artlink’s Hallway Gallery, an adjunct gallery located between Cinema Center and Artlink, will feature the watercolors of Lois Pieper through January 10, 2007.
