Professor Joseph H. Molinaro of Eastern Kentucky University has been studying the art of the upper Amazon region of Ecuador for over ten years. The art objects produced there can be used to define and differentiate the various indigenous groups inhabiting the rain forest. However, with the advancement of outside influences many of the age-old craft traditions, such as pottery making, are in jeopardy of extinction. Join us as Professor Molinaro discusses this complex issue of ceramics and culture—as well as see some original objects!
