I am the community relations manager at the Wells County Public Library (Bluffton, Indiana). I am always looking for people willing to do classes, demonstrations or lectures for our adult patrons. I was hoping that some of your members might like the opportunity to reach folks in Wells County.
Quite frankly, since we're a non-profit organization, we're on a pretty tight budget. In other words, no one will get rich doing this (they would receive gas money, a small stipend and our undying gratitude)! BUT, it is a chance to spread around some art appreciation, reach a fresh & eager audience, and get some free publicity.
Just a little info about us: An average adult program draws 35-50 people (but we've had as many as 100); average age 45. They are a friendly bunch who ask lots of questions. They prefer a casual, interactive program as opposed to a strict lecture. Most programs are scheduled on weeknights at 6:30pm, but we are also open on Saturday mornings.

Has anyone been to the new gallery, the Kachmann Gallery? It's at 1301 Lafayette, where the Avant-Garde Gallery had been and where the Yoga Studio still is. I haven't made it yet, but it looks like they've pulled together a great opening show. Check it out by February 4th. And let us know what you think here!

National cable television program to feature Fort Wayne artist!
(Fort Wayne, IN)—The crew of Home & Garden Television’s (HGTV) That's Clever!, a daily, half-hour series that highlights the contemporary crafting scene from Portland, Maine to Portland, Ore., will spend Dec. 20-21 in Fort Wayne, Ind., taping a segment about the feather necklace sets created by Robbin L. Melton, a local African American jewelry and fiber artist.
Melton is one of three crafters to be featured on an upcoming episode.
That’s Clever! issued a call for crafters in the Indianapolis area to submit their work for consideration. Melton was outside that radius, but submitted images anyway and the program’s producer decided to include her work.
Melton, who creates jewelry under the name Bibelots, also spins her own yarn that she weaves and crochets into wearable art. Examples of Melton’s jewelry can be seen online at www.bibelots.net.
