Closer Look Lecture Series Presents: Scott Ziegler-Ceramics
Monday November 16th, 7:30pm
North Campus Auditorium
University of Saint Francis
Free admission

Exhibiting ceramicist in USF's National Ceramics & Print Exhibition, Scott Ziegler, will host an Artist’s Lecture as part of the Closer Look Lecture Series on Monday November 16, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. in the North Campus Auditorium.

This program- presented in part by the Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne; the Indiana Arts Commission, a state agency; and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency- is free to the public.

Ceramics Monthly refers to Ziegler's work as highly detailed ceramic sculpture. Influenced by the time he spent as a toy designer, Ziegler spends hours and hours building up the color and detail in his work using cone 6 slips and commercial stains. Scott Ziegler painstakingly layers color over his meticulously formed sculptures to achieve bright, inviting surfaces.

Ziegler’s work will be featured in the Weatherhead Gallery during the National Ceramics and Print Invitational Exhibition, from December 5th 2009-January 17th 2010. The exhibit will open on Saturday December 5th from 7-9pm in the Weatherhead Gallery at the Rolland Art Center; the opening is free and open to the public.

New Venue for 'EGGSTRAVAGANZA' Auction--Baker Street Train Station

Easter Seals Arc's Eggstravaganza auction will be held at the Baker Street Train Station on Thursday, September 17th due to the closing of the Summit Club, where the event was previously scheduled to be held. The event will still begin at 5:30pm and tickets already purchased will be honored at the new location.

Eggstravaganza, a community-wide, fundraising art project for Easter Seals Arc, is in full egg-ffect. Local businesses have sponsored the thirty pound eggs and local artists have turned them into beautiful works of art. They have graced downtown windows for the past 3 months.

Visit Easter Seals Arc's website at www.eastersealsarcnein.org to vote for "The Most Eggsquisite", "The One That Cracks You Up" and "Best of Shell". Winners will be revealed at the Baker Street Train Station on September 17th. Brochures with all the egg details and location listings are still available online, as well as at The Convention & Visitor's Bureau, Parkview Field gift shop, The Chamber, and many other businesses in the downtown area.

September 17th will be the last public viewing of the eggs as they prepare to leave the nest and migrate to their permanent homes after being auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting Easter Seals Arc. Tickets are $30 per person and $50 per couple. For tickets or more information call Valerie Magana at 260.456.4534 ext. 267.
